Getting around Hamburg on a wedding day

Hamburg is Crystal Springs country. The resort’s venues are spread across several properties off Route 94 and Route 23, and a wedding here often means getting ready at one lodge, a ceremony at another and the reception a shuttle ride away. Mauricio has the resort’s internal roads mapped and plans the transfers so the couple is never waiting on a shuttle in a gown.

Guests from the south come up Route 15 to Route 94; from New York they come across Route 23. Both roads are two lanes through the hills and slow behind a truck. He pads the timeline on the front end so the ceremony starts when the invitation says.

Light and places in Hamburg

The resort sits in the Vernon Valley with the Hamburg Mountain ridge to the east and open views west, so the evening light is long and warm across the golf courses. Ballyowen in particular has nothing between the ceremony lawn and the horizon. In October the whole valley turns, and a mountaintop portrait at the right hour is the best fall frame in the county.
