What to know about Crystal Springs
Crystal Springs is less one venue than several. Grand Cascades Lodge, Minerals Hotel, Ballyowen Golf Club, Crystal Springs Country Club, Black Bear Golf Club and Wild Turkey Golf Club share one Sussex County property, and each has its own rooms and ceremony options.
The sides of the resort feel different. Grand Cascades has the ballroom and the Biosphere pool. Ballyowen is open links golf with the ridge behind it. Minerals is smaller and sits by the water.
Because guests can stay on the property, many Crystal Springs weddings run over a weekend. Mauricio plans coverage around the property you have booked and the walking or driving time between getting ready, the ceremony and the reception.

Getting ready in two suites
Couples often get ready in separate wings. With The Sweet Spot or The Whole Story, the second photographer covers one suite while Mauricio covers the other.

First look on the grounds
The spot depends on your property: the course at Ballyowen, the terrace at Grand Cascades.
4:00 PM
Ceremony
Mauricio plans for both the outdoor site and the indoor backup and confirms the call with your coordinator that morning.
5:00 PM
Cocktail hour
With a large guest list, The Sweet Spot and The Whole Story include a second photographer to cover candids while Mauricio takes family portraits.
6:00 PM
Couple portraits
About an hour before sunset, Mauricio takes you out for 15 minutes while the light is low.

Reception
Dinner, toasts and dancing. Coverage runs to the end of your collection hours.

A large ballroom reception points to Grand Cascades Lodge; a golf-course ceremony with mountain views points to Ballyowen; a smaller lakeside day points to Minerals. The resort’s event team can tell you current capacities, and Mauricio can talk through how each one photographs.

For large guest lists or a day that moves between properties, it helps. The Sweet Spot and The Whole Story include a second photographer for this. For a smaller wedding at one venue, The Short Story (6 hours) is often enough.
It works well in winter. The Biosphere, the ballrooms and the Crystal Tavern give indoor backdrops, and snow on the ridge makes a good backdrop for a few minutes outside.
