Union County is compact, which is the best thing about photographing here and the reason its timelines look nothing like a rural county’s. Westfield, Cranford, Garwood and Scotch Plains sit within about ten minutes of one another, so a getting-ready suite, a church and a reception hall in three different towns is an easy day rather than a logistical problem.

The roads have their own personality. Route 22 runs the width of the county with no left turns and a jughandle for every business on it, so a guest following GPS who misses an entrance is committed to another mile before they can turn around. If your venue sits on that corridor, spell the approach out for people rather than trusting their phones. I-78 and the Garden State Parkway take the through traffic, Route 82 and Route 28 handle the local moves between Union, Cranford and Westfield, and Newark Liberty is about fifteen minutes from the Elizabeth end of the county.

Many Union County guests arrive by train on the Raritan Valley and Morris and Essex lines, so if your venue is walkable from a station, say so on the invitation.
