Waterloo Village wedding photographer
Notes for couples marrying in the restored canal village: stone buildings, the river and the towpath, ten minutes off I-80.
The venue
A canal town kept as it was
Waterloo Village is a restored Morris Canal town inside Allamuchy Mountain State Park: a church, a gristmill, stone houses and the canal towpath along the Musconetcong River. Ceremonies are in the meeting house or outdoors by the water; receptions are in a tent or the pavilion on the grounds.
The parking field is a walk from the village, on gravel and grass. Mauricio plans the ceremony arrival with the planner so the dress crosses clean and the wedding party is staged out of the guests’ view.
Mauricio hasn't published a gallery from Waterloo Village yet. He scouts your venue before the day and plans the timeline around its light.

What Mauricio plans for at Waterloo Village
The canal reflection
The still water of the canal reflects the stone buildings and, in October, the trees along the towpath. It is the frame couples ask for and it is best in the hour before sunset.
The valley takes the sun early
Waterloo sits in the bottom of the river valley, so direct light leaves before the printed sunset. He plans couple portraits twenty minutes earlier than the forecast suggests.
Historic means careful
Buildings and lawns here are protected. Mauricio works with the site staff on where to stand and what not to lean on, and nobody notices the rules.
Tents and evening light
A tented reception needs light after dark. He brings it, keeps it warm, and uses the string lights and the river for the night frames.

How he works
What to expect from Mauricio
He scouts first
Mauricio scouts your venue before the day and plans the timeline around its light, so portraits happen where and when they look best.
Candid first, posed when it counts
Most of the day is documented as it happens. Family photos and portraits are planned, quick and directed so you get back to your guests.
One photographer, start to finish
Mauricio photographs your wedding himself, from getting ready to the last dance. The person you talk to now is the person behind the camera.
