Getting around Madison on a wedding day

Madison’s downtown runs along Main Street from the train station, and on a Saturday it is busy with people who are not at your wedding. Mauricio scouts the quieter corners, the Hartley Dodge Memorial steps and the side streets, for ten minutes with the wedding party. The Madison Hotel is two minutes away at Convent Station.

Route 124 and Route 24 connect Madison to Morristown, Chatham and Florham Park in under ten minutes each, so a day split between two of them is normal and the transfers are short.

Light and places in Madison

Madison is flat and open compared with the hill towns, so the light stays usable until the sun is on the horizon. The Drew University forest and the Fairleigh Dickinson mansion grounds give shade and columns in the afternoon; the downtown brick and the station warm up in the last hour.

A Morris County photographer, about forty minutes

Mauricio lives in Sparta and has photographed 750+ weddings in 14 years, most of them within an hour of Madison. He knows the Morris County coordinators, florists and DJs by name, and he plans every timeline around the real light on the ground rather than a number in an app.

Engagement sessions around Madison go to Main Street and the train station, the Drew University forest paths and Loantaka Brook Reservation.
