Rock Island Lake Club wedding photographer

Notes for couples marrying on Sparta’s other lake: a modern glass ballroom, a ceremony at the water and sunset behind it.

The venue

A modern venue built around the lake

Rock Island Lake Club is the newest of the Sparta lake venues: a contemporary building with floor-to-ceiling glass, a terrace over the water and a ceremony site at the shoreline. The lake is in almost every frame, which is the point.

It is a single-event venue on its own drive off Route 181, ten minutes from Mauricio’s home, with parking for guests on site and a bridal suite upstairs with window light.

Mauricio hasn't published a gallery from Rock Island Lake Club yet. He scouts your venue before the day and plans the timeline around its light.

What Mauricio plans for at Rock Island Lake Club

  • Glass means reflections

The ballroom’s glass walls are beautiful and tricky: at dusk they reflect the room. Mauricio positions the first dance and the toasts so the lake shows through rather than the lights bouncing back.

  • The dock at the shoreline

The ceremony site and the dock put water on three sides. He plans couple portraits there during cocktail hour, when the sun is low across the lake.

  • A suite with real light

The upstairs suite has big windows. Getting ready there means natural light for the dress and the last touches without moving anyone.

  • Sunset is in front of you

The lake faces west, so the sun goes down behind the ceremony. He checks the exact spot for your date and sets the aisle accordingly.

How he works

What to expect from Mauricio

  • He scouts first

Mauricio scouts your venue before the day and plans the timeline around its light, so portraits happen where and when they look best.

  • Candid first, posed when it counts

Most of the day is documented as it happens. Family photos and portraits are planned, quick and directed so you get back to your guests.

  • One photographer, start to finish

Mauricio photographs your wedding himself, from getting ready to the last dance. The person you talk to now is the person behind the camera.
