Lake Mohawk Country Club wedding photographer
Notes for couples marrying at the head of Lake Mohawk: the boardwalk, the Swiss-style plaza and the water behind the ceremony, five minutes from Mauricio’s home.
The venue
The clubhouse at the head of the lake
Lake Mohawk Country Club sits where the boardwalk meets the plaza in Sparta: an alpine-style clubhouse from the 1930s with the lake on one side and the White Deer Plaza’s Swiss-style storefronts on the other. Ceremonies face the water; receptions are inside the club with the lake in the windows.
It is inside the Lake Mohawk private community, so guests arrive through the gate and park where the club directs them. Mauricio sends his vendor details ahead and is on the boardwalk before the first guest.

What Mauricio plans for at Lake Mohawk Country Club
The boardwalk at the right hour
The boardwalk runs along the water with the plaza behind it. In the last hour before sunset the light comes across the lake and the storefronts glow; ten minutes there during cocktail hour is the frame couples want.
The ceremony faces west
With the lake behind the ceremony the sun sets across the water, so Mauricio sets the angle to keep the lake in frame without the sun in anyone’s eyes.
The plaza after dark
The lights on the plaza come on at dusk and the Swiss facades make a night portrait that looks like Europe. He brings a small light and keeps it natural.
Sunset moves along the lake
Where the sun sets over Lake Mohawk changes between May and October. He checks it for your date and builds the timeline around it.
