About The Ryland Inn

A venue we know by heart

The Ryland Inn is one of the most photographed venues in central New Jersey — and once you've shot there, you understand why. A 1796 farmhouse restored to the stud, 50 acres of gardens and orchards, and a Michelin-quality kitchen that handles catering internally. It feels like a European estate dropped in Hunterdon County.

Jackie and Chris got married here, and what struck us was how the inn handles every single transition — bridal suite to ceremony lawn to cocktail gardens to ballroom — without ever making it feel like you're walking from one zone to another. The venue is designed like a single, slow unfolding day.

For photography, the range of backdrops is unusual: you get the white farmhouse with its black shutters, the rose gardens in full bloom, the stone walls and orchards, and then a ballroom that actually knows how to light itself. We rarely have to ask the venue to change anything. They already know what works.

From a Couple We Shot Here

Mauricio is hands down the best wedding photographer in NJ. He knew all the best spots at our venue for photos and his lighting skills are incredible.

Where We Shoot

The best photo spots

After shooting here, these are the corners we return to for the quiet portraits and the moments that actually matter.

The white farmhouse + black shutter façade

One of the most recognizable backdrops in NJ wedding photography. We shoot couple portraits here right after the first look while the lighting is soft on the west side.

The rose garden

In bloom from late May through October. Beautiful for intimate portraits and bridal party shots. Watch the thorns — we always carry garden clippers just in case.

The orchard

Rows of apple trees with a quiet, rural feel that doesn't exist at most NJ venues. Unreal in fall when the light comes through the leaves.

The stone walls by the kitchen gardens

Textured, low, and perfect for sitting portraits. This is where we pull couples for 3-4 minutes of quiet while guests are at cocktail hour.

The ballroom chandeliers

The chandeliers here are lit well enough that we can shoot reception candids without a flash if the moment calls for it. Rare at a NJ ballroom.

The front porch of the farmhouse

Covered, shaded, and a gorgeous option for rain plans or mid-day family formals when the sun is too harsh elsewhere.

A Sample Day

An ideal timeline here

Your day is yours — but this is what tends to work beautifully at The Ryland Inn.

2:00 PM

Getting ready in the bridal suite

The suite upstairs has great natural light. We shoot dress, ring, and invite details here before the wedding party arrives.

3:30 PM

First look at the stone wall garden

Private, quiet, and shaded. One of the best first-look spots in the state.

4:30 PM

Ceremony on the garden lawn

Traditional and elegant. The farmhouse sits in the background. Guests arrive via the gravel drive.

5:15 PM

Cocktails in the gardens

We shoot candids here while you pull together family for formals in a shaded corner.

6:00 PM

Sunset portraits in the orchard

Our favorite 15 minutes of the day. Tree shadows, warm light, and a quiet walk away from guests.

6:30 PM

Reception in the ballroom

Toasts, first dance, and dinner. The room is designed for celebration and the chandeliers carry the light.

A Few Questions

Before you reach out

Have you shot a wedding at The Ryland Inn before?+

Yes — Jackie & Chris were married here and it's in our portfolio. We know the venue's layout, lighting, and timing well enough that we can walk in on wedding day without needing a scout.

Is the Ryland Inn worth the drive from NYC?+

Most of our Ryland couples have NYC-based guests and the consensus is yes. It's about 70 minutes from Manhattan and the venue experience is pretty unmatched for NJ. The Ryland runs a tight ship, the food is excellent, and the grounds feel like a full destination.

Which collection works best for a Ryland Inn wedding?+

Signature ($2,495 sale price) at 8 hours is the most common pick and covers you from getting ready through reception. Full Story ($2,995 sale) with a second photographer is popular for larger guest counts where you want both sides of the wedding party simultaneously.

Do we need a second photographer at The Ryland Inn?+

Not required, but often worth it. The venue has so many beautiful corners happening at the same time — cocktail hour in the gardens, the ceremony lawn, the farmhouse facade — that a second shooter captures angles we can't get solo.

Can you shoot a Ryland Inn wedding with the Spring Sale pricing?+

Yes. Every 2026 Ryland Inn wedding date is eligible for Spring Sale welcome pricing if the contract is signed by April 30. Signature drops from $3,495 to $2,495, Full Story from $4,295 to $2,995.
